About Iowa Neighbor
Iowa Neighbor was created by someone with lived experience of navigating systems that too often hide or withhold practical help. The project exists so that people who are struggling—and the organizations that serve them—can find clear, usable resource information without the usual barriers.
It was built and is maintained on a $0 operating budget, using only free and open tools. The goal is simple: keep community resource information free, open, and available to everyone—from neighbors in need to the nonprofits and partners who support them.
This is a passion project born from a real gap: when information is locked away or hard to reach, people fall through the cracks. Iowa Neighbor is independent, transparent, and focused on access—not gatekeeping.
